Andrew Waitman joined Assent Compliance as CEO in 2014 after a very successful term as CEO of Pythian from 2008 to 2014. While at Pythian, Andrew grew the company from a small services business to one of Canada’s fastest-growing, and largest, global professional services companies.
During its highest-performing years, from 1996 to 2008, Andrew was the Managing Partner of Celtic House Venture Partners. During his tenure, one fund produced one of the world’s top ten best venture fund returns in history. Prior to that, Andrew worked at Citibank and Nortel Networks.
Andrew has served on the Board of Directors of more than 30 technology businesses. He currently sits on the Fidus Systems and Assent Compliance boards, and the Advisory Board of Genesys Capital.
Russell joined the Assent team in December 2015 as the Chief Financial Officer. He is a senior high-technology executive who has operated at the CFO level for more than 20 years. He has raised over $350 million in both the private and public debt and equity markets, including IPO’s in London, Toronto and New York.
Operationally, Russell’s passion is facilitating the rapid growth of companies by supporting and reducing friction for the sales team. Prior to joining Assent Compliance, he held the CFO position at DragonWave, Wavesat Wireless (Montreal) and PRIOR Data Sciences.
Martin Sendyk is a high-tech executive and entrepreneur with over 20 years of international experience. Martin comes to Assent having held senior positions with large global companies such as Nortel, Motorola and Newbridge, as well as CEO and founding roles with successful younger firms.
Prior to joining Assent, Martin worked with Naspers/Irdeto, a multi-billion dollar global platform operator focused on internet services, e-commerce and pay media. As global SVP of Solutions, Martin led the international team that produced Irdeto’s portfolio of cybersecurity, encryption and anti-piracy products. Before this, Martin was CEO of Ambercore, specializing in 3D data visualization and predictive analytics.
Responsible for all aspects of Assent’s software (SaaS) platform, Martin is passionate about building world-class teams, delighting customers and delivering exceptional results to shareholders.
Travis is an international trade and compliance attorney who joined the Assent team in 2016. He specializes in ITAR/EAR/Sanctions; global anti-corruption, anti-slavery, code of conduct, environmental, health and safety; product stewardship (RoHS/REACH/Conflict Minerals) and corporate social responsibility (corporate ethics, CSR/CDP reporting, SEC filings).
He manages Assent’s worldwide legal activities, advises the Board of Directors on legal matters, and oversees corporate compliance, governance initiatives and other commercial transactions. Travis provides legal support and insight to every team at the company, from sales to partner organizations.
Prior to joining Assent, Travis worked for companies such as Microchip Technology, Foresite US Group Inc. and St. Jude Medical in various high-level counsel positions.
Matt Whitteker’s entrepreneurial career began when he founded a rapid-growth technology company, which led him to become an early team member at Assent. Matt combined his background in business development with his passion for boxing to co-found the most publicized charity boxing event in world history, raise hundreds of thousands of dollars for charity and open a 5,000-square-foot boxing gym.
He has shared his extensive business experience through guest lectures at the University of Ottawa, Carleton University and Queen’s University.
Patrick Ryan has more than 25 years of experience in the enterprise software industry — 14 of those in Vice President of Sales roles — and is a former Global Sales Leader of the Year award winner at Hewlett Packard. Throughout his career, Patrick has successfully led the structuring, scaling and coaching of best-in-class sales teams across Canada and the U.S., and has become a growth expert in new markets. He brings a dynamic skill set, SaaS knowledge and energy to Assent’s Sales team.
Jean-François Pouliotte comes from over 17 years of experience in the SaaS software industry. He currently heads Assent Compliance’s Customer Success department.
Prior to joining Assent, Jean-François was the Director of Global Professional Services for PR Newswire, the world’s largest press release distribution company. Jean-François brings extensive experience in enterprise solution implementations, product management and client services to Assent.
James manages the regulatory and compliance expert team responsible for delivering subject matter expertise to every aspect of Assent Compliance, improving the product’s function and the knowledge of the clients using it. His team focuses on providing expertise on topics such as material and substance management, ethical/responsible sourcing and corporate social responsibility.
James has over 12 years of compliance experience, working at companies like Nortel, Rakuten and Intertek, and applies this experience to the data management, verification, assessment, supply chain training/engagement, mitigation and full due diligence strategy for Assent. James has authored many publications and is a member of a variety of industry organizations such as IEC TC111 Group Mirror Committee, IPC 175X, IAEG, SCCE, AIAG and more.
As Vice President of Corporate Development, Marc oversees Assent Compliance’s identification of strategic business opportunities, including partnerships, alliances, channels and acquisitions to help fuel the company’s growth.
Prior to joining Assent, Marc was VP of Corporate Development at Halogen Software, a market leader in talent management, acquired by Saba Software in 2017 for $293 million. He served as VP of Business Development at BrightSpark Ventures, a next-generation venture capital firm that invests to build and grow early-stage software companies. Marc then became VP of Business Development at Think Dynamics, and was instrumental in its acquisition by IBM. He held various positions spanning over a decade at IBM, where he worked on an assortment of acquisition deals that contributed to the company’s revenue and extended its technological footprint.
Laura applies her extensive experience in direct, digital and content marketing to develop clear, actionable messaging on industry topics and how Assent helps companies navigate the compliance landscape. Under her direction, the Marketing team leverages this to execute a variety of initiatives, educational content, conferences and in-person events—providing value to companies by helping them mitigate risk and identify potential issues in their supply chain.
Prior to Assent, Laura worked in industries including training, finance and not-for-profit. She volunteers for various organizations, supporting causes like children, animal welfare, social and environmental initiatives.
Keira is passionate about promoting a dynamic team spirit at Assent while encouraging a culture of high performance. Prior to joining Assent, she held a range of leadership roles at the National Research Council, the Coaching Association of Canada, TD Bank and various small to early-stage ventures.
In more than 20 years of experience, she has led teams in a diverse range of sectors, spearheading recruiting and development efforts and initiatives to drive performance. Outside of her professional responsibilities, Keira is involved in volunteer efforts, including roles on the board of the University of Ottawa Heart Institute and the Ottawa Heart Institute Research Corporation, as well as a variety of community sports organizations.
Jonathan is Director of Strategic Relationships at Assent Compliance. He combines extensive subject matter expertise and business experience to develop and maintain relationships with Assent’s partners in the compliance space. Jonathan is instrumental to Assent’s ability to provide personalized, high-performance solutions to clients based on their respective needs.
A thought-leader in supply chain compliance and conflict minerals, Jonathan was a recipient of the 2015 Forty Under 40 award.
